„Yes, I’m a Wimp – and That Is Okay!

Anyone who knows me knows that I rarely make my feelings into a den of thieves. Words gush out from me that perhaps, in hindsight, would have been better left unsaid.

I am – as the saying goes – „built close to the water“ and there have been times when something quickly brought me to tears. Sometimes because something made me sad, or because I wanted to cry with happiness.

I’m on a first-name basis with my clients, because I love having trustful exchanges with them. I often hear, „People don’t do that. When you’re self-employed, you have to radiate strength and success on the outside, otherwise nobody will want to book appointments with you.“

Maybe „people“ do that – but I don’t. For years, I unsuccessfully followed this advice. But there’s no point in trying to outwardly be someone I am not.

Yes, I am a woman and I am very happy with all my strengths and weaknesses. Anyone who looks to me when seeking a tough business partner is looking in the wrong place. I have feelings, I sometimes make mistakes, and I can tell you where my limits are.

My customers appreciate this, and book me for that very reason.

Much has been said about authenticity. But who really dares – whether in their professional or private life – to be who they really are? It has been a long path for me to arrive at who I am, and I know that I am not yet finished with this journey. Because I, too, continue to make decisions based on how it’s normally done, or because it’s expected. Whether I’ll ever be completely free of this problem, I just don’t know.

I realize that I’ve already achieved a lot because people who know me, even for just a short time, trust me with their problems. They tell me about their lives and I often learn things that even their closest friends don’t know.

Sometimes, a customer will ask me to advise them about a problem in their private lives. I am proud to do so.

„You’ll never get rich that way,“ is what I’m told. But – I can! Perhaps not rich with money in my bank account. However, the point at which I would feel monetarily rich would need to be defined. In any case, I am rich in experiences, valuable encounters, love, friendship, and confidence.

I admit, everyone has their own opinions. In the end, I advise my clients on how they can be commercially successful. And this success is measured monetarily.

Very often, I see that financial success occurs when people stop chasing it like a madman, but instead see the purpose in what they are doing and convey that to the outside world.

If making money is the only reason you are doing your job, then you need to ask yourself the following questions:

What is the reason why you do what you do?
What drives you?
What is your real goal?

My goal is to ensure that people enjoy going to work because they see a meaning in what they do. This is the same whether you are an employee or an entrepreneur.

And I am grateful that I have found what is meaningful to me.

What is your „WHY“?
